RAJAR Q2 2010: Round Up

MediaCom provides the key highlights of the latest Rajar data released this morning for Q2 '10.

Commercial Radio has reported astonishing results with the highest share and reach since 2007. Commercial radio now reaches 32.8 million listeners per week (up 2.8% yr on yr) whilst BBC reaches 34.5 million listeners.

All Radio listening in the UK has broken the previous record, set in Q1, 2010, to reach an all time high of 46.8 million adults, or 90.6% of the UK population (15+).
 

Here are the key points:

National

  • The Heart Network is still going from strength to strength and is now reaching over a staggering 7.8m listeners each week, but has remained static with share at 5.8%
  • Classic FM now reaches 5.7 million listeners a week
  • Absolute have seen an increase qtr on qtr of weekly reach to 13.7% now reaching over 1.5 million and their share has remained static 1.1%

London:

  • Magic has reclaimed the number one station in London with 6.4% share (hours), Kiss has had a fantastic qtr and is now in 2nd place with 5.6% share
  • Heart has remained static in share and is still in third place (5.1%)
  • Capital has lost share this qtr and fallen from no.1 station to fourth position with 4.9% share, but still reaches 1.9 million listeners a week
  • Capital also remains number one Breakfast show with 1.1 million listeners, Heart now has 925,000, Kiss 100 has increased its weekly reach to 903,000, Magic has also seen an increase 841,000

Digital:

  • Digital Radio listening hours is now at 253 million which is up 17% year on year
  • Weekly reach has also increased 11% year on year taking the weekly reach to 20 million a week
  • Dab ownership is also up 7.6% year on year to over 18 million adults
