Home Office launches teenage abuse campaign
Integrated campaign launches to raise awareness of abuse in teenage relationships
The Home Office has launched an integrated campaign to raise awareness of abuse in teenage relationships. Comprising TV, online, radio and outdoor, the campaign is designed to inform 13-18-year-olds of the signs and consequences of abuse, and how to seek help.
The campaign includes a website, thisisabuse.direct.gov.uk/ where teenagers can find information about abuse in relationships and have live online discussions with experts. A viral ad allows teenagers to interact with a ‘dream’ partner in which the boy becomes abusive, followed by messages that challenge teenagers to recognise and reject abuse.
The campaign was funded by the Home Office and Department of Health and forms part of a long-term communications plan to tackle violence and challenge attitudes.
