BigCommerce SocialShop

BigCommerce, a provider of ecommerce software, has launched BigCommerce SocialShop - a Facebook application that enables online merchants to sell products through their Facebook fan pages.
Merchants can add a “Shop” tab to their Facebook fan page to display their new or most popular products. In the meantime, Facebook users can click on a product to learn more or buy directly through the BigCommerce store on a business’ Facebook page. As users have the ability to share products via their own wall or those of their friends, the application also offers easy viral promotion of products.
With over 400 million active Facebook users, BigCommerce’s integration with Facebook has given companies the ability to hugely increase their brand reach and awareness, whilst providing a new way to engage with customers in a social environment. If word of mouth is indeed the top influencer in the purchase of goods such as consumer electronics and clothes (as a recent study by Retail Advertising and Marketing Association and BIGresearch suggests), applications such as BigCommerce SocialShop could prove to be a very powerful social tool moving forwards.
