1 in 5 to do Christmas shopping via mobile

As we are only a matter of days away from festive season, I wanted to find a mobile related shopping story to share with you.

Earlier this month it was reported that almost 20% of UK consumers will use mobile handsets to make purchases over the Christmas period with retailers becoming increasingly mobile-ready. So far the signs are promising with a number of high street stores launching sites, from John Lewis, M&S, Tesco to JD sports jumping on the bandwagon.

With Mobile data traffic expected to rise 40 fold over the next 5 years, this is something retailers surely can't resist?

For JD sports, this move was a no brainer, Mick Peek, Head of E-Commerce at JD sports said: “This move underlines our determination to remain a genuine multi channel retailer, putting our customers at the heart of our business. We know mobiles are really important to our customers and this will enable the best possible shopping for them wherever they are.”

With the increase in these mobile offers only time will tell if the mobile operators review their online tariffs.
