MediaCom Engage Presents: What The Tech!

Thursday 5th November, 9am-1pm
Edinburgh International Conference Centre

Following our last event in November 2014 which focused on the Over 50's Market, this time the format and venue are changing as we go a little more "hands on" with our Tech Showcase.

'What The Tech!' will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Thursday 5th November from 9am til 1pm.

There will be a mixture of talks and hands-on opportunities with contributors from Google, Visualise, Pavegen and Lab amongst others.  You'll have the chance to experience drone flying first-hand, play with a Virtual Reality Headset (the future of gaming) and try out electricity producing pavements!

Dr Jamie Coleman, Founder and Managing Director at CodeBase
The Next Revolution: Deployment Of The Internet
Dr Jamie Coleman is Founder and Managing Director of CodeBase, the UK's largest tech incubator with companies such as FanDuel, Rightscale, Cloudsoft and Float.  He is also currently founder and Director of the Turing Festival; a Board member of The Edinburgh International Festival; Founder of GlycoSys, an open medicine technology company and a Board Member of ScotlandIS, the Software Trade Body in Scotland. Jamie began his career in Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetic Pregnancy. He has been involved for many years in biotechnology and commercialisation within the Life Sciences.  He has founded and acted as Director in companies involved in science animation, educational software and medical data.

Jo Baker, Agency Industry Head and Dave Murray Jones, Industry Manager at Google
Google I/O: What's Next; What's For Now
Jo has worked in the digital advertising industry for longer than the phrase digital advertising has probably existed. She began her career at the turn of the millennium with EquiMedia, the digital start-up agency, and then joined Google, where she's spent the last 4 years helping media agencies make the most of Google & YouTube.  Ultimately though, Jo is a geek at heart who loves data, and digital advertising. It's an industry that has endless possibilities and the fact that you can never know it all makes it all the more exciting.

Dave has 9 years of media experience. He cut his digital teeth working on PPC at Universal McCann and OMD UK. After 5 years he moved to Google where he carried on working with agencies and PPC in particular.   After a further two years he bid his search roots an emotional farewell and moved to work on YouTube. Not only does this give him a chance to watch YouTube for a living but he also loves talking to customers about their video strategies in an increasingly complex digital world. His experience across both performance and branding has given him a complete view of the digital marketing mix.

Nigel Gwilliam, Consultant Head of Media & Emerging Technology at Institute of Practitioners in Advertising
Human In A Tech Era
Nigel is responsible for representing the media and digital communities within IPA membership and being the first point of contact on all media and digital matters. He is also charged with understanding the implications of emerging technologies to advertising and agencies. As such he makes regular fact finding trips including those to SXSW Interactive, to Silicon Valley and to the Far East.

He is responsible for media affairs at the IPA and in addition to running the IPA Media Futures Group, oversees the IPA's digital and technology groups, and is a Tech London Advocate.

Quoted regularly in the marketing trade press, Nigel also represents agency interests on a number of key industry bodies including the Board of ABC, the Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards (JICWEBS) and the Digital Trading Standards Group (DTSG).
